The Power of MeditationAwake Friends,
This issue of Awake In Joy will focus on the Power of Meditation. On Aug. 25th. I had the privilege of speaking on Shonagh Home’s, Ix-Chel Wisdom radio show, discussing this profound subject. I feel the importance of passing this information on to you and gifting you with a few meditation tools that will change your life. Meditation has become one of the most important tools I share with clients who are ready to live their best lives. It makes an extraordinary difference in how you feel and view your world. You suddenly react, respond, feel and think differently. You realize how you feel is a choice. Suddenly your thoughts, words and actions are in alignment. You start making choices that make you feel good. Instead of simply running old self-sabotaging thought patterns. As a result, you start feeling more peace, personal power and joy. Most people feel the thought of meditation sounds painful. I hear clients say, “I know I need to meditate but I can’t right now, I’m too stressed.” That response always makes me smile. That is when you need it the most! It is the one tool that will enable you to shift out of your state of stress to a more resourceful way of being. We are so hurried and scattered in our culture that it sounds impossible to slow down the mind. I teach Guided Mediation which feeds the mind with something to follow, allowing it to relax and develop a new resourceful skill. “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.” -Buddha As a collective we are stressed, full of anxiety and fear. Unfortunately, most people do not know how to shift out of that vibration once they have entered it. By focusing your thoughts and feelings on the negative you are only creating more of what you don’t want. Energy follows awareness. We are conditioned to think that there is no other option other than getting through this difficult time or turning to alcohol, drugs and medication. Meditation reduces stress, eliminates fatigue, slows the aging process, improves memory, develops your psychic abilities, increases intelligence and allows you to connect to your higher self. It is a highly effective way to care for yourself on the mental, energetic and emotional levels of your being. It is the most important thing you can do for yourself. The path to our wholeness is through meditation. “We can not solve a problem with the same mind, that created it.” –Albert Einstein
The mind does not know the difference between what is sees with the eye or what it sees in the imagination. That is why when Olympic athletes use guided visualization to run the race in their mind, their performance improves. The key being, their intention and focus. We are energetic beings. Thoughts and words are energy. Energy creates things and attracts like energies. Energy cannot be destroyed but it can be transformed with intent. You are the ultimate controller and programmer of your life. I like the analogy of a radio receiver. You choose which station you are tuned into, creating your vibration and reality. Currently you may be tuned into 93.5 and it may have been an unconscious decision. In fact, it may simply be the station your parents listened to. You may not even like the station. But, it is all you know. The reality is all the other radio stations are available to you and exist simultaneously. You simply cannot see or hear them because you are currently locked into 93.5, as your current reality. You and only you have the ability to change your station. The key is knowing that there are other stations right in front of you and then taking the conscious action to turn your dial. Here are a few of the meditation gifts I would like to share with you. Play with them and watch how they affect your life in positive ways. Heart Centered Meditation and Day Planning: As you begin to wake in the morning, before you feel fully alert, you are in an altered brain state. This is a powerful time to shift your energy to gratitude and program your unconscious mind. The body cannot feel gratitude and fear at the same time. It is the energy of gratitude that creates more of what you want in your life. Bring your awareness to your heart chakra. (The energy center in the center of your chest) Very slowly and lovingly take your right hand and place it over your heart chakra then do the same with your left. (This will act as an anchor for your body) Allow yourself to evoke the “feeling” of gratitude. Evoking the emotion is the key. Think of someone or something that you are grateful for. (Initially this will feel challenging but will be easy with practice) Allow the feeling of gratitude to fill your heart chakra. Once the emotion is felt, let the image go and simply leave your awareness on your heart chakra. Allow the feeling of gratitude to gently grow and expand with each breath you take. As the mind wanders, and it will, without judgment simply bring it back to the heart chakra. Stay with this “heart-centering” technique for 5-20 minutes or more. Then, use your breath and intend that every cell of your body fill with this feeling of gratitude. Next, take a moment and see your day in segments. See in your mind the first part of your day. Imagine your morning, with you accomplishing everything that is important for you to do while feeling this feeling of gratitude. Then, see the next segment of your day, one after the other until bedtime. By doing this you are placing the energy of what you intend into your future. Your day will seem easy and effortless and you will enjoy your day in a much deeper way. Now, you are starting to consciously create the reality you want! Throughout your day, feel the feeling of gratitude as much as possible. If you are 5 minutes early for an appointment, sit in your parked car and use the time to shift yourself to the heart centered space. You will notice the gifts from this very quickly. Focusing on what is not working in your life is a habit. The majority of your life may be beautiful and yet we often get into the habit of focusing on the one area that is not working. Thus, creating more of what we don’t want. You have the ability to feel good in any situation. You are the only one who can create your own happiness. Joy does not come from something or someone it comes from within. As you focus on what is working in your life, what you love about your life, what you love about others and our mother earth, your vibration shifts to Gratitude and you start attracting more of what makes you feel good. Consciously change your radio station and start focusing on what is good about life and what you are grateful for and watch as the your world shifts. Allow yourself to Awake In Joy. You deserve it!
